I'm back from the funeral. It was very moving in the end, and even though I did spend the day functioning on three hours of sleep (I'm blaming my insomnia on the fact that I had to share a room with my brother, who snores something chronic) I kept it mostly together. And now I find out my play didn't get into the Drama Festival. GREAT.

I got an email from the girl running the Drama Festival, and apparently they have 17 plays for ten slots, so much culling is in the future. Inevitably I know about 60% of the people who have submitted, and the others I would probably know if I could see their faces rather than just their names. Today has been a day of mooching, weekly shopping (yay food!) and flinging myself against the brick wall that is Catch-22. This time around, I am liking the narrative a lot more, and having a deadline (tomorrow night, essentially) is helping the process along, but it still doesn't set my world on fire, and I really wish it did.

NUTS meeting today, and apparently Into the Woods is going to have to be "postponed until further notice" because the society totally neglected to pay for the rights to West Side Story and Sweeney Todd over the last two years, so even though they've paid for Into the Woods the company is still two plays out of pocket. FIRST DRAFT OF FESTIVAL PLAY COMPLETE! NOW TO EDIT THIS SUCKER!

Friday night was really cool - we went out for Dani's birthday, starting in our house (where we got into discussions about vitamins for some reason and compared favourite Disney movies. And the majority of the room was male, so that was kinda awesome) and moving on to a bar and then World Headquarters for dancing and fun dancefloor-game playing.
